The inflate-deflate project is a large and ongoing shoot, which began whilst at University in 2004 with a brief to photograph a “football sized object” in the studio.  Experiments led to the use of an inflatable ball, and backlighting to produce an eyecatching image.  Further development led to the current form of the project, which comprises a series of abstract images, featuring in close-up various parts of inflatable toys, all lit with a single light-source against a black backdrop.  The project has so far been exhibited twice, and it is planned to exhibit it further, along with the possible production of a book showcasing images from the project (amongst similar, related works).
